Robert Levoy Ledford Sr. of Tullahoma passed from this life into the waiting arms of Jesus on November 19th at Bailey Manor in Manchester, Tennessee.

Born on June 5, 1933, in Tullahoma, Tennessee to the late Shirley and Sammie Morgan Ledford, he was raised by loving parents to love the Lord, to care for his family, and to persevere in every endeavor. Bob was a devoted husband to Linda, loving father to their 6 children, and adoring “PC” to 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

A graduate of Tullahoma High School, he went on to earn his engineering degree from Tennessee Tech University. While in school at Tech, he made a trip to Nashville for a friend’s wedding and met his future wife. The two were separated by geographical distance but continued their courtship by exchanging innumerable love letters. He never tired of telling the story of meeting the most beautiful girl he had ever seen and proceeding to earn her hand in marriage. Through 66 years of marriage, his love and devotion for her was the example for all men on how to love and treat their wives. His love for her was second only to his love for the Lord.

Bob, or Curly as he was known to friends, served on the Tullahoma City School Board for twelve years, and rarely did he miss a Wildcat sporting event. He was not only a spectator, but excelled at softball, basketball, and golf in the AEDC leagues. His competitive side was eventually evidenced on the tennis court where he outmatched most competitors. In his later years, he eventually settled in to perfecting his golf game. He enjoyed the outdoors and pursued activities like hunting and farming, where his hard work, passion, and discipline shone through.
Bob and Linda raised their family with an extended family at Bel Aire Church and later at the Church at Cedar Lane. Many dear friendships were fostered. To demonstrate the virtue and grace in this, many of those relationships remain with us today.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Linda Foster Ledford, his daughter Judith Sluder, and his sister Ann Taylor. He is survived by his children: Valerie (Clark) Brandon, Mike (Jennifer) Ledford, Libby (Kevin) Collins, Rob (Melanie) Ledford, Jennifer (Randy) Wolcott; his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Cedar Lane Church of Christ with visitation from 12:00-2:00 and the service at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Cedar Lane Church for the ministry to the Church in Athens, Greece.
