Ronald “Ron” William Cooper was born July 16, 1943 in Nashville, TN and passed away May 26, 2024 in Nashville, TN at the age of 80 years old.
Ronald graduated high school from Hillsboro High School in 1961 and went on to attend MTSU and TNTech where he earned Bachelor and Master degrees in Engineering and obtained his MBA.
Ronald entered the Army in 1965 and was stationed in Guam and earned the National Defense Service Medal. He was discharged from the Army in 1968 as a Captain. Ronald was very proud of his service in the military.
Before entering the military Ronald married his wife Patricia on June 7, 1964. They were married for almost 60 years. Patricia preceded Ronald in death, passing away on March 3, 2024. They shared a beautiful life together, setting roots in Nashville, TN and raising their only child William G. Cooper.
Ronald continued giving back to his community after his service in the military by becoming an accomplished city planner for the state of TN. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed woodworking, reading, and dog sledding. Ronald had a special affinity for winter coats and always made sure his family had a good winter coat.
Ronald is survived by his only son William G. Cooper, daughter-in-law Stephanie Cooper, his grandchildren: Cassandra, Alexander, and Charles Cooper, his brother Ken Cooper, his sister-in-law Victoria Cooper, and his nephew Chris Cooper.
His celebration of life will be held in conjunction with his wife Patricia Cooper’s on July 2, 2024 at 2pm at their beloved St. David’s Episcopal Church, 6501 Pennywell Dr. Nashville, TN 37205 The family welcomes all who would like to attend and share stories about Ron.
