Roy A. Redferrin was born in Cross Plains, Tn., on November 7, 1941, and he passed away peacefully in the Arms of the Lord on January 29, 2024, at 07:11 in the morning at home with family by his side. He demonstrated strength, courage, faith, against his late-stage COPD.
Roy was raised in Cross Plains in a small town enjoying the benefits of a close-knit community. He developed and sustained life-long friends.
Roy was a lot like his mother, he never met a stranger. He would offer you something to eat or drink when you came to his home. He would give his last dollar to someone in need. Helping people in need, especially his friends and family. He loved seeing people happy. He was nice, caring, available and never would turn anyone in need away. He would tell you the truth even if it hurt out of love for you. He would hold himself and others accountable to be the best version of themselves.
Roy honored this country by serving in the Army and the National Guard. He was a true patriot. For over 30 plus years worked for the CSX railroad. He has many stories of his experiences and lifelong friendships.
Roy used to tell me that he wished he had known what he knew after becoming a grandfather he would have done so many things different, worked less, partied less and spent more time with his children. Roy’s greatest gift to his family was the day he gave his life to the Lord and was Baptized. He was an avid dog lover, especially to his current dog, Blueboy Redferrin.
He is survived by his loving family: wife, Shuwanna Redferrin; sons, Randy (Yvonne) Redferrin; Jeffery (Sandy) Redferrin; Chris Redferrin; Craig Redferrin; and daughter, Amy (Dan) Norman. Roy was additionally survived by a niece, nephew, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of loving friends.
