Shirley A Peterson

Shirley A. Peterson, 78 of Hendersonville, TN passed away peacefully on October 24, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born in 1945 to John and Mary Natick of Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. She was the youngest of seven siblings. In 1964 Shirley graduated from high school in Canada. Soon after graduating she moved to the United States and began work as an Executive Secretary for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in Chicago, IL.

In 1965, she met the love of her life, Wayne L. Peterson. They were wed in Chicago, IL in 1966. They were happily married for 54 years. Shirley and Wayne had one son, Darren M. Peterson of Hendersonville, TN. Shirley lived in the Bellevue area of Nashville, TN for 19 years.

Shirley was sworn in as a United States citizen after passing her naturalization test during the 1976 Bicentennial year and was extremely proud to be and American. She kept her dual citizenship with Canada as she visited her homeland several times to see family.

After raising her son, Shirley reentered the workforce as a top saleswoman for Dillard’s Department store in Nashville, TN. She retired the same year as her husband, Wayne in 2010. Shirley was passionate about gardening and flowers. She enjoyed tending to her lovely roses in her front yard.

Shirley loved for everything to be picture perfect pretty. She also loved visiting with others and attending devotional services. Shirley greeted all with a warm smile and will be remembered for her sense of style and endearing giggle.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Albert. She is survived by son Darren, daughter-in-law, Marisa and sisters Marge, Jean and Olga. She was a loving caring wife, mother and friend that touched the lives of many around her. She will be deeply missed and always remembered by her family and friends. Shirley always had a kind word and a smile for everyone she met.

Shirley will be laid to rest in a private service at Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens on Wednesday afternoon, November 1, 2023.
