On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, this world lost a treasure. Tommy Sanders went to be with the Lord & our lives will forever be changed, there are not enough words to describe this incredible man. Tommy was a lifelong member of the West Nashville community and the founder of Sanders Furniture. He was an avid sportsman. He never met an animal he didn’t want to match wits with. He was an incredible husband, father, uncle, friend, cousin, but his favorite role was “Papa Bear” to his grandkids, and great grandkids. “He was backbone of our family and taught us to be strong, loyal, and to love BIG!” The world was better because he was in it. “Our world is forever changed by you, Poppa Bear.” If he could say one final thing to his family, it would be….."I Love You, With All My Heart” Tommy is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judy Hall Sanders; his sons, Tim (Brenda) Sanders and Randy (Tina) Sanders; his grandchildren, Tiffany Sanders (Chris), Kevin Sanders (Jackie), Brittany Sanders, Jeremy Sanders, Dakota Sanders (Ashley) Dylan Sanders (Charley), and Chris Johnson (Ashlyn); great grandchildren, Blakeley Sanders, Braidon Sanders, Bailee Sanders, Emma Johnson, Charlotte Sanders, Andi Sanders, Hutton Johnson, Raelyn Sanders, Asher and Jase; his sisters, Linda (Tommy) Swafford and Carolyn Netherton; and his brother, Bobby (Patricia) Sanders. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed & Dorothy Sanders; sister, JoAnn McDonald; parents in law, Dewey and Vallie Hall; nieces, Sonia, and Stephanie; and nephew, Jeff. Visitation with the Sanders family will be on Monday, October 2, 2023, from 2PM until 7PM, at Western Hills Church (7565 Charlotte Pike). The funeral service will follow the visitation at 7PM. Graveside services will be on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 2:30PM, at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens (Last Supper Garden) Family will serve as pallbearers. *Flowers will be accepted on Monday at Compassion between 8AM-12PM, and any time after 12PM, at the church.
