Walter Thomas Lavender (Tommy), age 60, passed away on February 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Tommy was born on July 19, 1964.  He grew up in Bellevue, TN and later moved to Kingston Springs, TN to raise his family. He worked for Robert Orr Sysco then made his career with AT&T. Tommy loved playing baseball, having a good round of golf, bowling, flying his remote-control airplanes, and most of all spending time with his family on the lake.

Tommy is survived by his wife of 34 years, Tammie Lavender; his sons, Aaron D. Waldrum, Thomas A. Lavender, Gregory J. (Sadie) Lavender; his grandchildren, Caroline Butler, Landon Butler; and his siblings Charles Robert (Doris) Lavender, Shelby Darlene (Bill) Richardson, Julie Gail (Scott) McCalla.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Coble Lavender and Virginia Sue (Sharon) Lavender.

Visitation with friends and family will be held at Charlotte Road Baptist Church, located at 7511 Charlotte Pike on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a memorial service immediately following at 1:00 PM.

  1. Tammy, Bobby, Darlene, and Julie – we are so sorry to hear of Tommy’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire family. Love you all!

  2. Class of 1982 Hillwood High School Marching Band. right along side Tommy the whole time we were there.

    Then when we moved to Kingston Springs our lives mixed together once again and our kids were in Marching Band at Harpeth. Him and his family have been customers of ours at Pencils for years. This just breaks my heart. We are the same age. May he RIP.
