William Morehead, III William Waitman Morehead III "Billy" was surrounded by his daughters "Billy's Angels" as he passed away peacefully June 1, 2023. He was a native Nashvillian and died at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his son, William Waitman Morehead IV "Wait". He is survived by his daughters Lori McCullough (Tot), Tracy Johnson (Keith) and Paige Salyer (Kevin), grandchildren Anna Helmrath (Matt), Carrigan McCullough, Currey McCullough, Tupper Johnson, Jillian Johnson and Hawkins Johnson, great grandchildren John, Adelynn and Olivia, siblings Ginger Driver, Sissy Sobel (Dick) and Tupper Morehead (Sheila). Most of all, his family has been overwhelmed by the love and devotion of his friends and we humbly thank each and every one of you. Billy was witty, smart as a whip, big hearted and wild as hell. He played football for Montgomery Bell Academy (MBA) and Vanderbilt University. He was awarded the highest medal in math all four years he attended MBA. After serving in our armed forces, he spent much of his life in car sales. Billy was a cowboy at heart. He loved Western movies, golf, the mountains and puzzles (he always did them in ink). In the early 1970's he received Christ as his savior. After his conversion, he traveled to numerous churches giving his testimony. Later in life, Darfons restaurant was Billy's favorite place to eat and hold court. You could find him there almost every afternoon striking up a conversation with someone. He was such a familiar face that he soon became known as the "Mayor of Darfons". His daughters would like to invite family and close friends to pay tribute and celebrate their dad's life at his most beloved Darfons restaurant on Wednesday, June 14th from 3PM-5PM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Alive Hospice or Montgomery Bell Academy. Arrangements in the care of Compassion Funeral & Cremation Services, Nashville, TN (615) 857-9955. We proudly remain locally owned & operated.
